Almost every time I spoke with my mom on the phone, and several times while we were stateside over the summer, she would ask me when I was going to start blogging again. I would always tell her that I have been busy but I would start writing again soon. Twenty-eight days ago, on August 8, my mother died. Soon was never soon enough.
So in honor of my mother I am making a comeback and going to start blogging again. I can't promise all my entries will be full of sunshine, because to be honest, lately most of my days have been dark and rainy, but I do promise that I will give you reasons to come back to read more.
So reason number one (and two and three!) to keep reading/come back to reading my blog...
... my amazing children. The kids started back to school on August 23rd. Emily is now in 11th grade, Chris is in 8th grade and Sami is in 4th grade. With these three, it is bound to be an interesting year. Hard to believe they have grown up so quickly and we are nearing the beginning of our fifth year in Japan. Time really does fly by in the blink of an eye.
So stay tuned and make sure you bookmark or subscribe to my RSS feeds. There is much more to come.

I know what I felt like after I lost my mom. God worked amazing wonders with the creativity during my grief. I pray the same for you sweetie. (((hugs)))
Welcome back to blogging. I never would have guessed youve been in Japan for almost five years. Doesnt seem that long ago I was reading your blog, when you were getting ready to go.
I am sorry to hear about your Mom, I guess with time it will get easier.
I used to follow your blog while I lived in Osaka, as an expat mom with 3 kids as well, I was interested to read how you would cope with the change of culture. 2 years ago we left Japan and came to the middle east. Quite a change right? from time to time when I would begin missing Japan, I would visit your blog to see what you have been up to, but would find no updates.
Thanks for making a comeback. Although some may not comment, we really appreciate your stories.
gambate kudasai (spelling might be off but I think I'm trying to say good luck) - to you and a new school year!
glad to see you back here, Alexis!
