Parenting

Parenting is hard. No one ever said when you bring that tiny bundle home from the hospital it will all be happy times. There are many tears, frustrations, joys, smiles, hugs and kisses along the way. But through it all, being a parent is one of the most rewarding things I will ever experience.

I heard this quote today: "Being a good parent is knowing that your child will fall down and being there to pick them up." For some reason it just stuck in my head. While we all want to think our children and their lives will be textbook perfect, the reality of it is there will be many bumps and roadblocks along the way. But it is what we do in those situations that matters. Will we be there to love them unconditionally, no matter what? Will we put blinders on and continue to think everything is perfect? Will we gather them in our arms, wipe away their tears and frustrations and help them back on the correct path?

I pray as these three children of mine grow up that I will always there for them, no matter what. That I will be the best parent God wants me to be. I love you Emmy, Chris and Sam.
