A Walk With My Daughter

One of the things I love most about the beach is taking walks down the shoreline. While walking yesterday with Emily it struck me –– in 7 years Emily will graduate from high school and leave our little nest. I only have 7 more summers that we may be able to take these walks. After then I can only hope that we are still cool enough to vacation with.

We found out last night that the boy in the house next to us "thinks Emily Jacobs is cute". Will she have summer romances like Sandy and Danny in Grease? Will this place be the place she has her first kiss? Sigh... she is just getting too old. Now I know what my parents meant when they said enjoy every minute. Life goes by too fast.

Well she IS cute! Keep enjoying your walks and your time with her; my guess is she'll still want to vacation at the beach with you when she's older. Maybe someday you can take a walk on the beach with her daughter! :)

They grow up so fast! Sounds like you have lots more mom and daughter time to enjoy, though :-)

By the way, this is Jill from Coo-Coo. I have a new home at http://charmingdelightful.blogspot.com/.

Stop by and say Hi sometime.

hmmm... way too fast. It's true. My girls are 15 and 17 (boys 10 and 12) and it is happening whether I participate or not.

The best thing you can do now is build a friendship with her that will hold you through the ups and downs of her teenage years. Talk about REAL stuff - all the time - and you'll always be cool enough to vacation with ...

My Emily just turned 18. She graduated HS this year and will be going to college this fall. It does go by fast. So far, I'm still cool enough to hang out with. Thank God!
