A Walk Through Historic Canal Fulton

As a child I hated living in a small town. There was nothing exciting about a town with two traffic lights and no place to eat. (Today we have three traffic lights and a McDonalds!) Where everyone knows everyone and all their business. As an adult a small town atmosphere is comforting. One night my family took a walk through Canal Fulton and down the towpath to Lock 4. It was cool showing my kids where I grew up.

Emily eats a frozen custard from Oser's, the ice cream shopped I worked at the first summer Matt and I were dating.
Lock #4 on the Ohio Erie Canal.
Matt and the kids walking on the tow path back towards the main park.
My brother and Sam walking down the towpath.
The Canal Boat. You can actually ride on this boat up the canal, being pulled by two mules. (Yes this was the fun exciting stuff I did as a kid)
Sign at the boat dock.
Our city hall and jail.
My elementary school. (Which at one time was the high school my grandfather attended)
My house. It was built by my great grandfather and my parents still live there today. It is weird having around 3 acres in the middle of "town".

Small towns are amazing to me. I love your elementary school. And the house you grew up in--it looks like a story waiting to happen!

Is that a 4-sale sign in front of the school? Just wondering.

The town looks interesting and I love your parents house.

what a sweet town! After living in a big metro area for almost 10 years, I love now living in a small town where everyone knows everyone.

Yep that is a for sale sign. They have built a new elementary school (after all my grandfather did attend there) and are trying to get rid of it. I guess the town was offered it for $1, but said no due to the raging abestos and other similar reasons.

I like the header, too.

I didn't realize your p's house was that old. It's beautiful. I hope it can always stay in your family. And I like small town for the same reason you do. Which is why I'm absolutely loving being back here. :)

I live in a smaller town than you did I think (no traffic lights, no McDonalds). What a beautiful house they have! I'm a small town girl, so I'm starting to get nervous about how big our town is getting. Absolutely beautiful pictures once again, and I love your new header.
