Pregnant Man

Yes you read that right. A pregnant man. And according to some things I have read he isn't the first. I have so many questions on so many different levels.

According to ABC News
:

Beatie, who was born a woman named Tracy Lagondino, had reassignment surgery to appear as a man outwardly, but he never surgically altered his reproductive organs, he said in the article. He only had chest reconstruction and began taking testosterone, Beatie said, meaning he still has ovaries and a uterus.

To our neighbors, my wife, Nancy, and I don't appear in the least unusual. To those in the quiet Oregon community where we live, we are viewed just as we are -- a happy couple deeply in love. Our desire to work hard, buy our first home, and start a family was nothing out of the ordinary. That is, until we decided that I would carry our child.

I am transgender, legally male, and legally married to Nancy...

Our situation sparks legal, political, and social unknowns. We have only begun experiencing opposition from people who are upset by our situation. Doctors have discriminated against us, turning us away due to their religious beliefs. Health care professionals have refused to call me by a male pronoun or recognize Nancy as my wife. Receptionists have laughed at us. Friends and family have been unsupportive; most of Nancy's family doesn't even know I'm transgender...

We are proud to announce that this pregnancy is free of complications and our baby girl has a clean bill of health. We are happily awaiting her birth, with an estimated due date of July 3, 2008.

Full story from Beatie can be read here.

I heard about this and it's just disgusting to me, sorry if that offends anyone, but it's just not normal and I like normal!

I don't know. If you still have the goods then you're really not a male after all, are you?

I mean I could deck myself out in chrome and sit in the garage forever but I'll never be a car.

I'm curious as to why they decided he /she would carry the baby rather than the wife.

Um....this is so strange. How would you tell your child that the Dad gave birth to her?
I can't imagine....
I'm glad you posted this though.. I heard about a pregnant man on the news and just dismissed it. Now at least I know what they were talking about.

I don't like it but I can't be the one to judge. However, I don't think he/she should have ever brought national attention to the subject because it's just sooooo not normal and a bit freaky and mostly confusing. I can't imagine explaining this one to my son if he were to ask why a man is having a baby. How would you explain it? Just ewwwwww.

Clearly they want the attention. Otherwise Nancy would carry the baby. Unless she can't I guess.

That's ew to me, too. I'm with bee, why carry it and draw attention? Just for the attention, I guess.

This world has lost it ways...and it's very sad to me to see things like this.....but then I also rejoice because I know it's just of matter of time and The Lord will come back and save us Christians from this LOST world.

What will be next...cat gives birth to human?

I would hope the media doesn't give any coverage on this anymore...our poor children are confused enough

I think I'll shut up now, because I could think of allot of stuff to say about this subject but I'll keep them to myself:0

Sorry, but that makes me want to throw up in my mouth. Gross. If this is the next thing to become 'normal' we're all in trouble.

Guess I am the only one not shocked or appalled by this. However, I am a free spirit and as long as he is not hurting my family than so be it. There are lots of things that I have to explain to my children that I simple said "It's there life to live how they choose and that's why this country is great. As long as they aren't hurting anyone than more power to them." I often talk to my children about the courage it takes for a person to live how they want even if it's against the grain and that is often how social changes about.

So I just saw that he/she will be on Oprah on Thursday......

This is indeed quite shocking when I first heard it. But then again he is still a she. Like evryone else, why didnt Nancy carry the baby instead? Maybe complications?

Good luck to both of them.
