Everyone who knows me knows I am a very plain Jane type of gal. For years Val has been trying to convert me into something a wee bit more fashionable than my normal look. And since moving here my one neighbor has been trying to do the same thing. I am not sure what is wrong with the plain Jane look. I mean how can you go wrong with jeans and a long sleeve T or jeans/capris and a tank? Especially when it is almost always Old Navy or Gap. You know something like these.
Now don't get me wrong. I don't always wear that. I do on occasion break from my norm and wear something with a bit more flair. But in all seriousness when you are a SAHM who really sees how I am dressed? And 95 percent of the time the people I write for never see me since I work via the Internet. So why not be comfy and well, cheap.
So over the past 6 months or so I have been buying a few "non-Alexis" items here or there. But today I really broke free from the norm. My neighbor's sister owned a high end store that she closed not too long ago. She gave me a bunch of her leftover stock and a few of her own things, including t-shirts, sweaters, a Guess jacket, PJs, tanks, boots, a pair of Hot Kiss skinny jeans (yikes!) and three pairs of David Kahn jeans. The grand total for all the items was well over $1,000. All for (drumroll please...) free! To someone as cheap as I am these are like my best diet pills. I may have to change my will to be buried in the David Kahn jeans. Not only do they retail for $189, but they are the softest, most comfortable jeans I have ever put on my body.

I have to admit some of the stuff I will probably never wear. I just don't have a place to wear the furry black Guess jacket with bling bling buttons. Or these boots.
But hey free is free. And you never know. Maybe I will be daring once. But there was also some adorable stuff too like these sweaters and killer boots.
And on top of the windfall my closet has received, I got a Coach purse (handbag?)! The most expensive purse I have ever owned was a Nine West that I bought at a resale shop in Illinois.

So is this the beginning of a new fashionable Alexis? Probably not. I am just as happy with my Target or resale shop purses and Gap and Old Navy clothes. But hey. A girl can get fancy every once in a while ... even a SAHM.
