There Are Good People In This World

Sometimes when I read the newspaper and watch the news I wonder if there are any good, caring, people in this world.

In March 2001, Matt and I decided to try for a third child. During that time I found an online message board called Storknet. It is an online community for people trying to get pregnant, struggling to get pregnant, are pregnant, have children, have lost children... basically any walk of life you can think of. (We even have a few grandmas, but don't get any ideas mom) As strange as it sounds, people who have never met form bonds and become friends.

When Allison died the people at Storknet were amazing. Several members made their way to Ohio for the funeral. I received cards, calls, scrapbooks, and they even set up a memorial fund in Allison's name. Today I received a package in the mail (and we all know how much I love mail) from one of the Storkies I have never met.

Karen sent me this gorgeous ornament because she said she saw it and it made her think of Allison and she hoped that when I looked at it that it would help me feel like she was a part of our Christmas too. It just blows me away that someone I have never even met face-to-face would do something like that. There are some really amazing people out there.

Thank you Karen. It means more than you ever will know.

We are lucky to have had SN in our lives. I wouldn't have met you if it weren't for it. We wouldn't have had all our experiences if it weren't for it. That's the good that's came out of it. I know you wouldn't have survived if it weren't for most of the storkies. I'm thankful every day, not just for myself, but for you, too.

We all love Allie and always will. She brought us together ya know? :)

Merry Christmas, Allie.

SN has been a great support in my life as a parent, too.
