Wish Me Luck

For those who may not know, I am a freelance writer/public relation consultant out of my home. I worked two years at a PR firm and then have been doing project work on my own for the past 6 years. Some days I have alot of work, others I have nothing. I work on anywhere from magazine articles (I have even won an award for one) to press releases, product manuals, media kits and web writing. Basically if it needs written, I do it. Someday I hope to make a transition to writing a book. Matt keeps telling me that when Sam goes to kindergarten in 2 years (sob!) it would be the perfect time to start writing it. Anyways, enough about my boring work.

I got a call yesterday afternoon from where I am a contractor asking if I could do a quick turnaround on a project for them. Basically it is rewriting and editing a project entry for a company-wide contest. Since this is a multibillion dollar company, this is a pretty big deal. Sure no problem, I can help. After all, how big of a project could it be? So the client emailed it to me late last night and after talking with him today I learn the "little project" that needs to be to him by mid-Monday, is to be 25,000 (yes, that is 25 THOUSAND) words. Oh and can I write up a quick 1,500 work executive summary?

I'm going to die. Please wish me luck. I'm going to need it.

Don't freak out! Have faith!

When I journal, I sit for an hour and type nonstop. That comes out to about 1,500 words.

Just breathe, put your headphones on and get to it!

Email me if you need anything. I know it seems daunting. When I was planning and brainstorming my novel, I was freaking about the word count. I instead brainstormed and within a couple of days had over 12,000 on paper. You'll be fine. I'm sure of it!
