You say I should wear what?

I guess by today's standards I belong on the TV show What Not To Wear. Somehow my jeans and long sleeve t's and capris or shorts and tank tops, all with flip flops, are just not up to snuff.

Emily came home last week telling me all about the shoes that everyone who is anyone is wearing at school.
Sperry Top Siders. These "lovely" little things come in a variety of colors and will only cost you a mere $80. That is right $80 for shoes that look like you should be sailing on a boat somewhere in the Florida Keys. Basically everyone is wearing boat shoes. What's next? Penny Loafers?

Next lets discuss skinny jeans. A style that never should have come back in style.
These jeans are everywhere, including on men. I'm not even sure how some of them are put on. Paint maybe. Just looking at them makes me feel like I am suffocating, let alone actually wearing them on my body. I hope this is a fast moving phase.

And how about sweater dresses?
I remember having one of these in 7th grade. I think mine was pink with butterflies. Back then I was actually in style. And on occasion I would be really stylish and wear my sweater dress with my stirrup pants. I'm just not feeling this style either. Luckily we have such a short season here to wear such an item I have an excuse not to be trendy this time.

And last but not least, how about the style of shirts.

I work hard to not look pregnant, why would I wear a shirt that makes me look so? Pleated tops, empire shirts ... blech. It's too bad because I really love that first shirt. I just refuse to look like I am expecting my 5th kid.

I have heard that sexy corsets are soon to be a big hit as well. Yuck! So sign me up for the next episode I guess. Otherwise I will forever be unstylish.

OMG, I completely remember those shoes from grade school (we called them 'docksiders'). Ugh, no thanks!

I agree with you on almost everything except for skinny jeans. Girl - I have seen your skinny self...you could totally rock a pair of these.

I am so unstylish too. I live in my jeans or capris, tshirts and flip flops. :)

This is where you and I are so opposite! I loooooove the sweater dresses! And I loooove shirts like that. I have too many to even count. To me they are very vintage and feminine. I love them. Call me weird. Call me vain, but I think they look cute on me, too! ;c)

I have to say, I love that tunics and baby doll shirts are in style because that means I didn't have to limit my shopping to the maternity section this summer!

I'm with you about skinny jeans though. No thank you!

My sweater dress was pink with a big cowl neck collar. I wore it with jean in college. And I agree, you could totally pull off skinny jeans girl! Me on the other hand would look like an ice cream cone. And don't knock "What Not to Wear"! Once I hit goal weight I'm bribing dh to nominate me so Clinton and Kelly can make me over.

I'm going to go with Val on this one... I am really loving the sweater dress! And the flowing tops are great, b/c I can be fat and preggo and still look cute and stylish (although I might not feel this way were I not preggers right now!)

I love to watch What Not to Wear, btw, and I really can't see you on there! ;) Really!

Isn't amazing the trends that come back around? Truly amazing! Why did we ever wear those things again?

Oh my goodness! I cannot believe that kids are wearing those shoes!
But, we tight-rolled our jeans, so who am I to talk???

I gotta say, now that I am pregnant, I LOVE the loose, flowing tops. But, before pregnancy, I was with ya!
