Holiday Stress

Sorry I have been such a bad blogger the past few weeks. Things have just been crazy between holiday activities, work, the kids and school functions.

Other than a gift card and a few small items I am DONE with Christmas shopping. Sounds great huh? Well it is except I am waiting for 12, yes TWELVE, items to still be shipped. They are all supposed to be shipped in the next few days and have a promised delivery of December 24, but honestly I am starting to worry that they will not be here. And believe it or not, I did not wait until the last minute either. They have all had been ordered a week or more ago. Plus I still need to pick up an item that was backordered at Sears and finally came in.

Then wrapping... ugh it stresses me out even thinking about it. I have so much to wrap. And when will I find not only the time, but time when no one will be home? Add on top of that I still need to hit the post office and that idea stresses me out even more than wrapping and the shipping combined. Maybe I will just send UPS and avoid the whole post office scene.

My holiday baking has not been done, nor even thought of yet. I had plans to send stuff to my clients and some friends in Illinois, however I honestly don't see that happening. Maybe I will do "Welcome 2008" baking instead. How cheesy would that be?

I need to just slow down and take a deep breath. Holiday's don't need to be an elliptical that we never seem to get off of. I need to remember that Christmas isn't about gifts and cookies and pretty wrapping paper. It is about the birth of a special little boy. A little boy who was sent here to save us –– Jesus.

 Tell ya what, you shop for me, I'll wrap for you. We'll both do welcome 2008 baking and call it good. ;)

It seems when I lose focus, DS reminds me that it's Jesus' Birthday Party! (Exclamation his.) And what a great thing to celebrate.

I'm in the same boat. Our tree is up, but not out of the wrap, no ornaments on it, it isn't even standing straight in the stand. I still have presents to buy, and I can't drive for 2 weeks. I have lots more baking I'd like to do, but that's taking a "back burner" at the moment. Not to mention, I'm hormonal and postpartum.

isn't it crazy how this time of year, which is supposed to be all about reflecting on the big, important things (family, faith...) so often ends up being consumed by really unimportant stresses??!?!

I wish I was there to wrap for you. I love wrapping Christmas presents!
Hope you found time to take that deep breath!

I think the "Welcome 2008" baking sounds GREAT! If you think about it, most people get so many sweets during this time of year, so they'd probably enjoy it more anyway!

It's hard to loose focus with so many things to do, but try to sit and take time to breathe! :)

A, I feel for you. Sort of in the same boat. Except as you know I now have 2 tree's in the living room until I get a bag to put the new one in. Not sure if I will ever get around to wraping what little bit I have. I got it all out to do but have yet found the time to sit down and do it. Baking, I got all that out and lined up and it's going to gather dust before I get a chance. Sigh thank goodness we can stop and actually remember what christmas is about. And just remember that your family is great and don't really expect you to get it all done. They won't notice whats not finished. (((Hugs)

You said it all!!

I am in the same boat, with waiting on packages, and I too, really am not a huge fan of all the wrapping. I did UPS a bunch of stuff late last week, and let me say that it was SO much easier than the post office--which I dread too!

Do a little Welcome 2008 baking and whip up some Buckeye cookies or something. You can eat them while you watch the big game! :)

I am like corie and LOVE wrapping!!! You should start sending all your packages to me and I'll wrap and send them at the post office! I don't mind the post office at all since I have to go weekly, I make friends with the workers :c)

I hope you got it all done.

Where's my cookies? :):)
