Breaking Free

No, I am not going to burst out in song from High School Musical. (Even though I think everyone should be privy to the same torture I am experiencing with Sam's addiction to Troy)

Everyone who knows me knows I am a very plain Jane type of gal. For years Val has been trying to convert me into something a wee bit more fashionable than my normal look. And since moving here my one neighbor has been trying to do the same thing. I am not sure what is wrong with the plain Jane look. I mean how can you go wrong with jeans and a long sleeve T or jeans/capris and a tank? Especially when it is almost always Old Navy or Gap. You know something like these.

Now don't get me wrong. I don't always wear that. I do on occasion break from my norm and wear something with a bit more flair. But in all seriousness when you are a SAHM who really sees how I am dressed? And 95 percent of the time the people I write for never see me since I work via the Internet. So why not be comfy and well, cheap.

So over the past 6 months or so I have been buying a few "non-Alexis" items here or there. But today I really broke free from the norm. My neighbor's sister owned a high end store that she closed not too long ago. She gave me a bunch of her leftover stock and a few of her own things, including t-shirts, sweaters, a Guess jacket, PJs, tanks, boots, a pair of Hot Kiss skinny jeans (yikes!) and three pairs of David Kahn jeans. The grand total for all the items was well over $1,000. All for (drumroll please...) free! To someone as cheap as I am these are like my best diet pills. I may have to change my will to be buried in the David Kahn jeans. Not only do they retail for $189, but they are the softest, most comfortable jeans I have ever put on my body.

My Hot Kiss Skinny Jeans. I am not even sure what shoes to wear with skinny jeans?

Cute Max Studio pheasant shirt in black.

Front of the David Kahn jeans. I have these in three different shades of blues and different leg cuts.
Back of the jeans. Aren't those cool?

I have to admit some of the stuff I will probably never wear. I just don't have a place to wear the furry black Guess jacket with bling bling buttons. Or these boots.
What do you even wear these with?

But hey free is free. And you never know. Maybe I will be daring once. But there was also some adorable stuff too like these sweaters and killer boots.

Nordstrom's sweater. This looks really cute on.

Another cute sweater.

These are the tight in the calves type... Emily calls them go-go boots.

And on top of the windfall my closet has received, I got a Coach purse (handbag?)! The most expensive purse I have ever owned was a Nine West that I bought at a resale shop in Illinois.

My new purse!!

So is this the beginning of a new fashionable Alexis? Probably not. I am just as happy with my Target or resale shop purses and Gap and Old Navy clothes. But hey. A girl can get fancy every once in a while ... even a SAHM.

That was a fun post! :)

I was going to say what Deborah said. Wear ballet flats with skinny jeans or other kinds of flats, but NOT flip flops. If you don't like those jeans, please feel free to send them my way ;)

I am not sure I like the black furry boots. But I'd wear them in the winter (what you would call winter) with skinny pants tucked in the jeans and a cute top. I do LOVE the black boots. I wish we wore the same size cuz I'd buy them from you :)

Love the tops!! And enjoy the jeans. Once you go designer you never go back --- believe me. And I think you are --- believing me now!

Oh, and I meant to tell you -- you'll probably laugh at me because I am sure you know it's true -- you can't keep the wallet you have. you must get a cute wallet to go with that purse or you're going to get looks when you pull it out of a COACH purse! :c) :-p

OMG, you may be the luckiest girl in the world! :-) Those clothes are great! I find myself in tees and jeans most of the time. I try to put on cute shoes or big earrings to make it look like I put a little effort into it... but its really hard to beat my flip flops!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm enjoying yours so far!
