It's been a productive, yet very fun, weekend.
Friday night I finished cleaning the house (yes another thing off my to-do list!) while Matt cleaned up the boat. Afterwards, Emily had a friend spend the night and we just hung out around here.I think Matt enjoyed spending some extra time with Emily and her friend.
Yesterday we dropped Emily off at practice and then spent the morning getting some stock up items for Matt's air shipment (they are packing his stuff on Oct. 15), as well as picking out a small TV for our bedroom in Japan. The old tube TV in our bedroom here will become victim of the "digital converter" in February, so it just made better sense to get a new one for Matt to take with him. While a pop up tv would be pretty cool so we won't have to see it all the time, we just settled on one to mount on the bedroom wall.
Last night Matt and I caught up with some of our closest friends, Matt and Kate, as they were in town from Ohio for the night before they headed to the beach for the week. We managed to catch dinner and the big Buckeye game (what a win!). We will be meeting up with them and their kids at the beach next weekend. I am looking forward to spending some time with them. It's hard to believe and Matt and Matt (imagine calling their place during college) have been best friends for over 15 years.
This morning the kids had their second language class (they are loving their teacher) and then we met Val and her family. Yes they are here! We spend the afternoon tubing, skiing, wake boarding and swimming out on the boat and then went to one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for supper. It was funny watching the kids. There was no awkwardness and it was like we have never been apart. Val and the kids are here all week and Neil is here until Tuesday night. I can't wait to show them some of the cool places in the Raleigh area. I am sure I will have lots of pictures from the week to share.
So what did you do this weekend? Leave me a comment and give me a wrap up.

That is always very exciting to catch up with friends and for you and Val to spend time together - HI VAL! We spent our weekend preparing for winter. That's right, frost on the ground Saturday morning made us push up our yard preparations early and then it was sports all weekend. So long to the Cubbies, but the Sox are still in the playoffs and the Bears killed the Lions. We also had bowling and soccer on Saturday which helped us lead into our cold and flu season. That's right, 2 home with bad colds.
But I would actually love to hear more about Raleigh since we are considering going to NC for spring break next year. If you get around to it, we would love a blog about where you are LEAVING since we now know where you are going.
What an eventful weekend! Hope you are having great fun with Val, Neil and the kids. Tell them I said hello! :)
Well....we spent Sat w/Steve's mom and then got back in time for a taco salad and watched the game. GO BUCKS! Although for a while there, I wondered if we would pull it out! I was doing the HAPPPY DANCE!! Then Sunday morning was church and Sun afternoon we hit the theater for a viewing of Firproof......ya gotta go see this movie. Of course everything in the movie was familiar to us b/c we just moved from Albany, Ga...where this pic was produced. EXCELLENT treat for married couples!Sherwood Bapt did a wonderful job on this flick! The pastors daughter is the wife in the movie next to Kirk Cameron...except for the closing scene...hint---he was kissing his real wife!
So when do you finally leave for Japan? Please keep in touch!
Joy, DeeDee

Sounds like you guys are having a blast! What lake do you guys go to? Maegan is out of school today and tomorrow, and if I wasn't babysitting my nephew, I'd invite myself down for the day tomorrow to see you guys! :( It's a shame how close we live and yet never have found the time to get together, granted, mainly my fault.
