Move over Santana

Chris has a new favorite class at school –– music. We have a new music teacher this year and he has introduced guitars to the 5th grade students rather than continuing with the horrible recorder. When heard this it was an answer to prayer. Have you ever heard a kid try to squeak out the Beatles's I Get By With A Little Help From My Friends on a recorder. It isn't pretty.

Chris has really embraced learning how to play the guitar. He brings home one to practice with at least 3x a week, as well as on the weekends. And to be honest, he doesn't sound all that bad. So this week at the temple sale can you guess how excited Chris was when he found this little gem?

Yes we now own a guitar so Chris can play anytime his heart desires. And the best part... it was a mere ¥800 (About $8.10) Now if Matt could only listen when I tell him that it is Chris's guitar, not his.

Learning to play guitar is something that you will need to think of as a long term effort and isn't something that you can do in an evening, a week or even a month. It requires a variety of skills that take both time and effort to master. The most effective way to learn is to take lessons with a teacher or work with a more experienced friend who can show you how they learned.

Thanks Angele! We are looking into getting him lessons. This seems to be something he really enjoys and we hope lessons will encourage him.

I wish I would have known you were in the market for a guitar!! I would have shipped you Chloe's that she just HAD to have for Christmas last year. (that she has picked up all of 3 times) Would it have mattered that it is PINK? :)
