Out of the Mouths of My Girls

This is how a few conversations have gone at the Jacobs' House lately:

Sami: Mom! Dad!  I know what I want to be when I grow up! A rhythmic gymnast! I am going to enter all these contests and win!
Me (as I sneak an umm why look towards Matt):  That's nice Sami, but that could be your hobby. You will need a job to pay for the entry fees for the contests.
Sami: I have that figured out. I will just get a husband. He will make all the money and then I can enter all the contests I want.
Me and Matt: **silence** (As I am sure Matt is secretly thinking like mother like daughter!)

Emily: Mom, are you having a mild life crisis or something? I mean you are becoming more anal with age and are just one step away from asking for a label maker.

I don't know why she said this statement. I mean we all organize our pantry by brand, calories, color and packaging.

PS: Little does my daughter know I have been coveting a label maker for years now. I think it may be the move that will officially put me over the edge.

On Tap for the Week

Arizona... again. That is where Matt is headed this week. Since he will be gone 25 of the next 35 days I have lots of things on my lists to get done. I seem to work through the list better if I actually post and make myself accountable for what needs done. So sorry if I bore you, but hey, it works for me.

On my to-do list for the week of February 11:
1. Get taxes done and e-file.
2. Get project done for "J" at Cat and email.
3. Email engineers for project I am working on for "W".
4. Email service engineer and draft pilot article for "J".
5. Get to gym 3 times this week and use different pieces of exercise equipment.
6. Email parents for Emily's slumber party.
7. Clean out under bathroom cabinets in master bath.
8. Exchange air compressor at Sears.
9. Return pants to NY & Co.
10. Burn pictures for Kelli.
11. Choose pictures to be printed and hung.
12. Call IPE and ask for media list.
13. Clean out under kitchen sink.
14. Find Phuket message boards and gather info for trip.
15. Pack for trip to Ohio this weekend.
16. Find and print out coupons for trip to Ohio.
17. Check priceline for rental car for trip to Ohio.
18. Check out book from library on flying to ease Sam's worries.
19. Set DVR for Daytona 500 since we will be in Ohio.
20. Book mom's plane ticket here.
21. Finish book currently reading.

I did pretty well two weeks ago, getting all but 3 or 4 things done. We'll see how this week goes.

Another of my quirks

We have two different checking accounts, a joint account and my work account. I balance them to the penny daily unless I don't have internet access. The idea of my account being off by even a penny stresses me out. Now Matt is totally the opposite. The man would never balance the account, which is why I do all the banking. I know someone who rounds every entry up and by now probably has several hundred dollars just sitting in there. That stresses me out.

Am I really that anal and am the only one who will spend hours trying to find where I am off by a penny? How do you balance your checking accounts?
