Get Out and Vote

Unless you live in a bubble you know that tomorrow is one of the most monumental elections in history. After Nov. 4, 2008 the United States will either have its first female Vice President or first African American President.

It is no secret or surprise that I am voting for the McCain/Palin ticket. In fact, I have already voted. There are so many thoughts in my head leading into tomorrow's election. What will happen to our nation after Nov. 4? Will the American people make the right choice? Will the person elected hold true to their word? Just what does the future of the GOP look like?

To be honest I started out 6 months ago not being happy with either choice. However through research (just like shopping for car insurance) and lots of prayer I am comforted by the choice I made. I am proud to be voting for a candidate that even though is an underdog, he is not giving up. Seven states in 24 hours. Lets just hope that perseverance comes out on top. If Rudy could do it, so can McCain. Right?

And the President's office is not the only thing at stake. If 11 senate seats turn in the democrats favor then we are up for a filibuster-proof majority. If the democrats are smart they don't want that either. Didn't quite work out for the GOP, did it?

So not matter what team you are on, get out and vote. Exercise your right. Be able to go to bed on November 4, no matter the outcome, knowing that you did what you could to make a difference.

Super "I Get to Wait 3 Months Before I Get to Vote"

Yes you read that right... North Carolina does not hold their primary until MAY 6 –– three months after "Super Tuesday". By the time we get a chance to vote, all but 10 states have already cast their ballot, and the process of winning delegates from each state to become each party’s nominated candidate has already determined a winner. Basically, other states around the country select the two nominees to run for president while we get left with whoever they have chosen.

I heard last night on the news that this year it will be unlikely that any candidates will be clear winners after Super Tuesday. And maybe, just maybe, it may take until March to know. That is great news for those in Ohio, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Wyoming and Mississippi –– who all vote in March. However that still leaves us SOL. (I found funny t-shirts to even say as much)

Cue patriotic music...

It's no one's surprise which way I lean, but I won't tell you who to vote for –– at least not in the primary. But I will tell all of you who get to vote today, or even the rest of this month, GO VOTE. Take pride in your freedom to vote and help select who you feel will be the best in taking our country forward. Consider yourself lucky, because those of us left behind in Indiana, North Carolina, Nebraska, West Virginia, Kentucky, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico and South Dakota don't get to cast ours until May 6 or later.

You Don't Have To Be A Registered Voter...

To vote on Val's blog!! My wonderfully talented friend is looking for a tagline for her business, and YOU can help her decide! You know, kinda like America's Player on Big Brother 8.

Please take time to vote for a tagline for VWC Photography today. You can take a peek at some of her work here. And you can't choose just one? That's okay, you are allowed to pick three. (Yes, Val is almost as indecisive as I am)

So exercise your right to vote today. Go to Val's blog and vote.

Vote for Me!

Imagine my surprise to come home from vacation to find out my blog has been nominated for An Island Life's Bloggy Hoss Award.

Picture high school "Senior Awards" but for blogs and you have the general idea. Not only am I shocked to have been nominated (I have never even heard of this blog before) but I have been nominated for "Most Athletic". Boy am I laughing considering the mass quantities of food and beverage I have consumed over the past two weeks while on vacation.

So take a minute and vote for me... pretty please. I never did win a "senior award", and hey this is way cooler! You can go here to vote.

Thanks!!
