Best Things Come To Those Who Wait

Waiting –– I stink at it. I have always been a very anxious, "Type A", impatient person. Everything I do, I do with speed. My mind is seems to be running 5,000 miles a minute and I am trying to rush to catch up with it.

So many things are on hold right now. From information on the upcoming school year, to my family to activities with the kids to Matt's work to my work to travel plans. This is a particularly hard time of year and I like things to be neat and organized, and instead I feel like each part is running on its own track and not making it to the same station. And to be honest, very few of these aspects are even controllable.

Psalm 46:10 says "Be Still and know that I am God". It tells us to let go and trust God to do God's will. To just "Let go and relax." Sure it's easy in theory, but to actually put into practice is another story. For me it is a huge challenge.

So how to you deal with patience and waiting? Are you like me and are constantly telling yourself to just "calm down" or are you like my polar opposite, cool as a cucumber?

Oh, I am Type A in a big way. My skin is crawling just reading this post. That's how Type A I am. My skin crawls when there is too much uncertainty... and my head comes very, very close to exploding. Good luck with all the waiting. Maybe you could fine reruns of American Idol to distract you while you wait? :-)

bwahahahahahaha! ohhh dear, me & patience so don't get along! I am not good at surrendering control or waiting! This past year has been such a struggle to keep (or, more often, regain!) calmness. Hope you are able to find ways to help yourself hang onto calmness as you waut!

Oooh--I love the new look! Did you announce it and I missed it?

As far as patience goes, I have very little, but I started praying in color and it helps me a lot. I just bought some new markers (I'll blog about it later)

I'm the 'cool as a cucumber"....but it took me awhile to get this way...I have found out things don't always go as "planned". I am very neat and organized though as far as my home, probably too much at times..I think that is where I could relax a bit. But I hate messes! Like, I have to leave the house with it all tidied up, same goes before I go to bed.

Patience....well I'm told all the time I have more patience of anyone they know, however my kids can push those patience at times....many of time

Ohhh, Melanie and patience dont' even go in the same sentence or let's say the same paragraph...
My husband is the "cool as a cucumber" so he is always trying to calm me down. He says to me when I start getting up tight "patience is a virtue"..I've prayed about it and I am trying to be better;)

I'm a mess!! I'm not patient and I'm a complete control freak. Anticipation kills me as well.

I love the Psalm you quoted. So true that it seems so easy in theory.

We could be twins! But I'm learning to let go and let God, even in the midst of a crazy, unexpected move and waiting to hear if we actually got the house and waiting on an agent to tell me if he'll represent me, and waiting...

Well, you get the point!

Patience is not one of my virtues.

I totally understand this post!
