This Year's Guilty Pleasure

I have found a new guilty pleasure for this TV viewing season... Fox's GLEE! Some of you may have seen the pilot that aired in the spring right after the American Idol finale. Others may have caught it last week as it was re-aired. I was so disappointed after watching the pilot last spring to learn we had to wait until September to see the whole season. But finally the season premiere is upon us!

Whether you were a show choir geek (I can say that since I was in show choir!) or not growing up you can't help but fall in love with this show. It's funny, quirky, sweet and full of a talented cast. I already have my favorites (yes after one show) and can't wait to see how each of the storylines progress. And well of course the "New Directions" performances themselves are reason to watch alone. I was following a live chat online and it seems that I am not the only one who has fallen in love with this show.

Here is a little promo for those who may still be in the Glee dark.

For all my fellow expat readers who don't have a Slingbox (an expats gift!), you can download this show on Itunes.

Guess who else is coming to Japan?

Unless you are a mom if a 8 year old or above you probably have not heard the news. So in case you have missed the next best thing since the creation of High School Musical (which is still Sam's obsession btw) icarly is heading to Japan.

Can I even begin to tell you how excited my kids are about Nick's movie icarly ,igo to Japan? For those who have no clue what I am talking about, icarly is about Carly Shay, who creates an Internet show, called iCarly, with her best friends, Sam and Freddie. Surprisingly the characters do not annoy me and I actually find the show cute to watch.

So back to Carly and her friends coming by for a "visit". On November 8 the crew will be heading over to Japan for a visit during the first ever icarly movie. Leading up to the big movie will be "Japanese Fun Facts" both online and on television. (I encourage you to check out the list on this link.) We have heard clips of them saying some of the words that the kids and I are learning in our language class, and even looks like they are wearing UGG Boots like everyone else there does.

So if you have some time and want a sneek peak into some of the life my kids will be living for the next 3 years, make sure you catch the movie premiere on November 8. And if you don't want to admit that you are intrigued in watching this, that is fine. Just make it a family activity for the evening. My kids are always great excuses why I have to be a kid for a few hours.

How Old Am I Again?

I am hooked. It only took two short weeks and I am already hooked on the new 90210 TV show. I do not think it is near as good as the original cast (which spanned the exact years as my high school and college days) but I am already loving/hating characters and storylines.

Maybe it helps that some of the old "gang" are making reprisal roles and guest visits. Or maybe because we are all waiting on abated breath to see just who is the father of Kelly's son (I am hoping Brandon, but it is looking doubtful) And well Ryan Matthew, the hot, scruffy, delicious English teacher really helps too. (Of course Matt would debate Lori Loughlin, the hot mom, helps)

Please tell me I am not the only one addicted to this teeny bopper TV show. And I know there are others who were devoted 90210 fans back **gulp** eighteen years ago. It's okay. You can admit your guilt here. After all I need someone to discuss the previews for next week with. Is Brenda moving in on hottie Mr. Matthews under Kelly's nose? And who do you think the daddy is? And well, is Silver and Dixon going to get together?

Less than 36 hours...

to the world premiere of High School Musical 2!! We all know how much I love teeny bopper shows and movies so I am not sure who is more excited, the girls or me. There are a bunch of people we know that are having premiere parties so I am not sure where we will watch. Somehow I doubt Matt is too excited about this movie.

So don't forget Disney Channel, Friday August 17 at 8pm EST/7pm CST.

My Latest Obsession

To everyone's surprise it isn't Ohio State. I am obsessed with the TV show Lost. When the show first started three years ago I missed the first few episodes. I realized it was one of those shows that you have to watch from the beginning and cannot miss an episode. So I just didn't watch. Then this summer Jamie hopped on the Lost bandwagon. So at her suggestion we started getting the first two season's from Netflix. And can I just say, OMG.

I have to say I was surprised that I like the show. But I love the mystery to it. I love the "what's next?", the twists and turns. We are about a 1/4 way into the second season and the unknowns are killing me. Who are "the Others". What are the stories of the people who were in the back of the plane? Just how many of them are there? Is Charlie snorting out of the Virgin Mary? What is the real story of the bunker? Where is Walt and will he ever be found? And of course my burning question is who will Kate choose –– Jack or Sawyer. It is so apparent that she wants them both. Hell, I want them both. Jack is that "save the world" type guy, while Sawyer is the sexy "bad boy" that everyone loves to hate. So which will it be?

Our plan is to the finish Season 2 discs, watch the first 6 episodes of this season online and be all caught up by Feb. 7 when the season starts up again. I just hope I can stay away from the spoiler sites until then.

Anyone else a Lost addict?
